The name of Shanghai Tang’s SS23 womenswear collection “Cheng Hua” (撑花) is inspired by a woman who came in the rain with an umbrella like a flower blooming, enjoying the rosy night in the busy Shanghai city.
Like an old painting, the model is styled in vintage hairstyle, slightly drenched, photographed in a blurred lens to mimic a rainy night in Shanghai. The black and gold combination that runs through this series gives an intellectual demeanour with a gold sparkle, while the cream white brings femininity and serenity to the collection.
