The Story of Shanghainese Tailors

Following the cultural revolution, Shanghainese tailors moved from China to Hong Kong to better express their art. From there, these tailors revolutionized the Chinese wardrobe and reinvented traditional Chinese clothing by evolving the Qipao into a short, form-fitting garment that worships the curves of the female form. Together, these Sifus (or Masters) created what we know today as the Qipao or Cheong Sam.
For over 50 years, traditional craft and techniques were passed down from fathers to sons who now still practice the same techniques.
